What You’ll Hear
Our current health and social crises has highlighted the need for a more diverse workforce. The underrepresentation of minorities in health and science fields has been well-documented. Evidence also suggests a more diverse workforce can facilitate access to healthcare for underserved populations, advance medical research, and influence the future of healthcare. This pivotal moment in our nation’s history ushers in a unique opportunity to create sustainable change in this area.
Our esteemed panel will discuss how to meet this need while sharing advice to students interested in STEM and healthcare careers.
The Need
Black and Hispanic people continue to be underrepresented in the healthcare and STEM fields. Blacks make up 11% of the U.S. workforce overall but represent 9% of healthcare and STEM workers, while Hispanics comprise 16% of the U.S. workforce but only 7% of all healthcare and STEM workers (Pew Research Center, HRSA).
You’ll walk away with:
- Actionable strategies for academic success in preparation for careers in healthcare and STEM
- Career advice for those pursuing opportunities in Nursing, Medicine, and STEM fields
- Awareness of career paths in Nursing, Medicine, and STEM fields
