Our scholarships honor extraordinary individuals whose legacies have shaped the fields of nursing, STEM, and public service — and we invest in students ready to carry that work forward.

Who Should Apply
We welcome college-bound high school seniors, recent high school graduates, and current undergraduate students from communities that have faced barriers to opportunity. Applicants must have been accepted into an accredited program in one of three fields:
Alana Cueto Nursing Scholarship For students accepted into an accredited 2- or 4-year nursing program.
The Dr. Marion L. Johnson STEM Scholarship For students accepted into an accredited STEM program. Named in honor of Dr. Marion Lee Johnson, mathematician and contributor to the Apollo Saturn V program.
The Dr. Gloria Addo-Ayensu Public Service Scholarship For students accepted into an accredited program in public service with an explicit health focus — including public health, epidemiology, social work, human services, health policy, public administration, laboratory science, and related disciplines within local, state, federal, or nonprofit settings.
What You’ll Need
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (unofficial transcript accepted)
- A history of community service
- A 300-word personal statement
- Willingness to complete an interview with the selection committee, if selected as a finalist
- Commitment to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above during college matriculation for continued funding
How to Apply
The application takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. You’ll be asked to upload your unofficial transcript, share your community service history, describe your financial need, and respond to a personal statement prompt tailored to the scholarship you’re applying for.
Recognition at the 10th Anniversary Gratitude Gala
Scholarship recipients will be honored at The Institute’s 10th Anniversary Gratitude Gala on September 12, 2026 at the University of Maryland, College Park.
