Our STEM Ambassador Earns Living Legend Honor

On May 3rd, 2024, The Institute for Health and Social Equity’s STEM Ambassador, Dr. Marion L. Johnson was honored as a Living Legend by her Alma Mater, Talmadge’s College. Dr. Johnson graduated with a liberal arts degree from Talladega College in 1967 and was honored for her significant contributions to public service. Her work at the Boeing Company as an Associate Engineer, working on the Apollo 11/Saturn V Manned Lunar Landing Mission was crucial to the landing of the Apollo 11 mission. She was a mathematician on the Boeing/NASA team, where she worked in preparing data for the vehicle impact trajectories. Her perfect score over 20 successful missions earned her a place on the Apollo/Saturn V Roll of Honor in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
